1. Estimates, not quotes
Every figure produced by a calculator is an estimate. Estimated based on the information you entered, actual costs vary by location, pet, provider and lifestyle. The low and high figures shown alongside totals are illustrative ranges around your own number, not confidence intervals and not statistical bounds.
Suggested default values in the calculators are starting points. They are adjustable, they are not sourced from any survey, and they are not presented as national or market averages. Where a page shows a worked figure, it is labelled as an example.
2. No veterinary advice
Nothing on this site is veterinary advice, diagnosis or treatment instruction. Feeding estimates, portion calculations and any mention of health-related costs are general information only. Animals differ in their needs, and health conditions can change what is appropriate for an individual pet.
Always consult a qualified veterinary professional — your own practice, or an emergency out-of-hours service if something is urgent — before making decisions about your pet's health, diet, medication or treatment.
3. No financial or insurance advice
The budget and insurance calculators perform arithmetic on the numbers you enter. They do not take account of your personal circumstances and are not financial advice. Insurance outputs are not quotes, and the site does not sell insurance, compare policies on price, or recommend any provider. Policy terms, limits, exclusions and excesses vary and must be checked with the insurer or broker directly.
4. Pet food and feeding estimates
Feeding calculators use a standard resting energy requirement formula and typical calorie densities for broad food types. Real products vary considerably in energy density, and individual animals vary in their requirements. Treat the output as a starting point, check the feeding guide on your food packaging, and ask your vet or vet nurse to confirm portion sizes for your individual pet.
5. Third-party content and advertising
The site displays advertising, including through networks such as Google AdSense, and may link to third-party websites. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, products, prices or practices. Advertising is not an endorsement, and advertising relationships do not influence the output of any calculator.
6. Accuracy and availability
We work to keep the site accurate and current, including its wording for the USA, UK and Australia. We do not warrant that every figure, description or piece of third-party information is complete or error-free, and we may correct or update content at any time. If you find something wrong, please tell us through the contact page.
7. Use at your own risk
Your use of the site and reliance on its outputs is at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, PetCostly is not liable for loss or damage arising from decisions made on the basis of calculator output or site content.
